Sure. You can think of putting together your presentation deck as an arbitrary, pro forma task that you perform because you always have, and everyone else does. But what you are doing, in essence, is telling the visual version of the story you'll be articulating as you stand in front of an audience. Keep it simple. Don't fill your slides with information, whether text, or busy images like info-heavy tables. They'll just be a distraction, and your audience won't be able to take in any information if it's too dense. The rule is: your slide should be a guide: whatever you put on it should be spare enough that it can be taken in at a glance.
